Martha Rosler
Martha Rosler Inspired Work
Martha Rosler's House Beautiful: Bringing Home The War series from 2004-2008 heavily inspired my own work because of the parallels of the Ukrainian war with Russia and the fact that people are continuing on with their lives because the war is now considered old news.
Rosler does not rely on digital tools to create her works but I have the ability to when I created by own collage. I used PicsArt, a photo editing app that I normally use, to create my piece inspired by her works.
Artists now rely heavily on digital means to create their works so they can be without borders. Rosler's works cross borders because they make statements on situations that can still be relevant to this day. Artists are able to take advantage of a world that no longer has borders because of the digital age that we are in. One click can put a photograph out to the world and has the power to possibly change something. The digital age means anyone can connect with someone halfway across the world.
